Year 10 Mock Interviews.
On April 3rd, all of our Year 10 pupils took part in a mock interview with a local employer. This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to practise and develop vital interview skills to prepare them for real sixth form/college/ job interviews in the future.
Our thanks are extended to all the representatives of local employers who gave up their time to join us for the day to conduct the interviews with our students, including Scott Richard Solicitors, Specsavers, Plant & Engineering Service, Schooling Builders, Lightfoot, Devon & Cornwall Police, Next Steps South West and Torbay, Bicton College & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.
Every student in the year group had a fifteen minute, one to one interview and were then provided with constructive feedback from the employer on their CV and interview skills.
Having taken part in the day students were asked to give their views on how helpful the experience had been. The general consensus of opinion was that it was a really useful day enabling students to approach future interviews with confidence. One student commented, “It gave me a clear image of what to expect in an interview and made me realise it isn’t as scary as I expected.”
James O’Connell, Principal, said, “It was fantastic to see our students take this so seriously and get the opportunity to rehearse a skill and experience that is so important in life. We are really grateful to the many employers and members of our community who gave up their time to support us with this. It was also great, though no surprise, to hear how impressed they were by our students!”
Congratulations to the following students who were selected by interviewers as giving an outstanding Interview and were presented with a certificate to recognise their achievement.
