Welcome Evening
We would like to warmly welcome our new year 6 students who will be joining us from September. We very much look forward to meeting you all. We welcome all parents and future students to join us for a welcome evening on Monday 28th April at 5pm.
This is a fantastic opportunity to come and visit us at the Exeter Road site, meet the staff and hear from the headteacher, Mrs Wickham. Please follow the link below to ensure that we know that you are coming.
Modern Foreign Languages
All Year 7 students are assigned a Modern Foreign Language to study when they start TCS. Students study either French or Spanish. If your child has a specific reason that they need to study a particular language (e.g bilingual) please click on the form to let us know. We anticipate that most students will not have a preference. We know that some students study a language at primary school, however our MFL team are well equipped to support students from a range of different starting points. There is no requirement that students study the same language as in Year 6. Any requests for languages need to be completed via the form by 2nd May 2025.

If you have any further questions regarding MFL choices please contact Mrs Atkinson (Samantha.atkinson@teignnmouthschool.co.uk)
Induction Day
The induction day for all students will be Tuesday 8th July.
Our Induction day is an important date on the calendar and we encourage everyone who is joining us at TCS to attend. The day provides an opportunity for students to familiarize themselves with their new environment, meet teachers and peers, and understand expectations for the coming year. In doing so, the day helps to foster a sense of belonging and ensures students feel prepared, which can lead to improved academic performance and emotional well-being as they adjust to a new school setting.
Further details will be sent out closer to the time.
Further information can be found in our Transition Booklet. A PDF copy can be accessed here.
Parent guidance for supporting KS2-3 Transition
We recognise that the transition to Secondary school can seem daunting to some pupils (and parents!) and we work hard to support pupil welfare through the process. If you would like some wider independent support the following links contain some valuable resources for both parents and children:
The Anna Freud Centre for Children and Families offer lots of useful advice to families on a variety of topics but their specific school transition guidance can be accessed here: https://www.annafreud.org/schools-and-colleges/resources/supporting-childrens-transition-to-secondary-school-guidance-for-parents-and-carers/
There are also some excellent resources on the BBC website that can be shared with children and include celebrities offering tips and advice: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/tags/zh4wy9q/starting-secondary-school/1
Mobile Phones
From September, we will be implementing a phone-free policy at school, as we strongly believe that students learn better without the distraction of mobile phones, which also supports their overall well-being. Students will be required to either place their phones in a Yondr pouch during school hours, leave their device at home, or hand it in at the start of the day. For more information about Yondr pouches and how they work, please visit here. https://www.overyondr.com/phone-locking-pouch
Further details on how these pouches can be purchased will be sent out later this year.

Uniform
Please note that all TCS pupils will be required to have a black school blazer. We do not require a school logo in order to keep costs down. These can be purchased wherever you choose. All logoed school uniform is available to purchase from our online supplier, Trutex. To purchase uniform please follow the below link. From here you will need to register a new account for ‘School Specific Uniform’. You will need to purchase PE kit from here. In the first term both boys and girls will do rugby and dance. In addition, girls will complete netball and boys table tennis.
