Kioni Mole, a Sixth Form student from Teignmouth Community School has been awarded a black belt in kick boxing. Kioni was awarded his belt back in December 2018. What makes this achievement extra special is that he suffers from Cystic Fibrosis. Kioni is one of around 10,400 people in the UK suffering from CF.
When Kioni was around 12 years old he was inspired by his sister, a keen and very talented footballer, and wanted to take part in a sport of his own. He wanted to live a normal life and didn’t want his condition to get the better of him.
Kioni started training in mixed martial arts. With years of training, and although he has suffered many setbacks, Kioni has made his dream come true! Despite the best advice from specialists to take it easy, Kioni has dedicated himself to the sport – he trains 4 nights a week and takes part in competitions. Kioni has competed in a total 4 competitions and won them all, 4 wins 0 lost 0 draws. Kioni believes he may be the only Cystic Fibrosis sufferer to currently hold a black belt in kick boxing.
