The 2023 Carnegie Medal Shortlist for writing has just been announced and it showcases seven authors in the running for the prize that celebrates outstanding achievement in writing for children.
The TCS “Rather Be Reading” group will be starting the Shadowing process from this week – Thursday 23rd March during Break One. Students and staff have the opportunity to read as many of the shortlist as they can, and vote for their own favourite. These votes count toward the “Shadowers Choice” Award. We will be sharing our thoughts and overall impressions of each book and videos of the authors talking about what inspired them to write their books – these will start after the Easter holidays.
All keen readers are welcome to join this friendly group which is supported by librarians and interested teachers. We meet in the library at 11.15 each Thursday during Break One from now until June 22nd when the winners will be revealed.
Even if you are not a keen reader you might want to come along to the first meeting to see what we are going to be doing during the shadowing. Books have the power to spark a lifelong passion for reading and some of these titles might just be the ones to do this for you…
