TCS Exeter Road held their annual Christmas concert on Wednesday 13th December to widespread acclaim and applause. There was a huge variety of talent on display with students from across the school and sixth form performing in choirs, orchestras, jazz bands, rock bands, soulful duos and just about every possible type of musical combination! Over sixty students took part!
The standards were incredibly high. It would be dangerous to pick out any individuals but the orchestral performance of ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’ brought the audience into the running and was enjoyed by all; there was also a preview performance from our forthcoming production of ‘Oliver’, with a wonderfully entertaining version of ‘You’ve got to pick a pocket or two’ holding the rapt attention of all.
The maestro behind it all, Mr Pat Saturley (Head of Performing Arts), said: There must be something in the water in Teignmouth. It’s just wonderful that we have so many young people ready to get out on the stage and perform. I’m very proud of them all.
Principal, Mr James O’Connell, said: It’s fantastic to be part of a school where young people are encouraged by their peers to perform and where there’s so much choice and diversity. What struck me most was what passion and courage our students displayed. It was a wonderful evening.
