The annual Teignmouth Day of Sport was held on Tuesday 18th July. One of our core school values is ‘Join In’ and this whole school event certainly saw everyone do that! All student took part in at least one athletics event and one team sport and the staff and 6th Form Students officiated (and even had a go at some of the events). During P1&2 the Year 7 & 8 students took part in the Athletic events on the field and we had three school records broken. Connor B broke the Year 7 High Jump record with a height if 1.32 metres, Beth S broke the Year 8 200m record in a time of 30.65 seconds and Robert S broke the Year 7 Javelin record with a throw of 28.40 meters. During this time the Year 9 and 10 students competed in team sports earning points towards their house total. After break it was the Year 9 and 10s turn to take part in the athletic events and two records were broken, George M smashed the prior 100m record with a fantastic time of 11.87 seconds and Victoria P beat one of our alternative athletic events record by throwing 21.20 meters in the Welly Wang. In the afternoon all year groups took part in 4x100m relay races and there were some excellent races including the Year 8s who tied the existing school record and the Year 10 boys who got a little sentimental before the race when they realised it was their last ever sports day race at Teignmouth.
