When Leah was 8 years old, inspired by a creative writing session, she came home and started to write a story for children her own age. Three year’s later, with the help of her father, ‘The Land of Magical Surprises’ was published. This happened in October 2017 when Leah was 12 years old, making her one of the youngest authors in Devon. It is available by ordering from a book shop or on line through Amazon and Waterstones. Leah has been on radio stations such as Radios Exe, The Breeze, Riviera radio and BBC Radio Devon. Last October Leah appeared on Southwest ITV after reading her book at a local primary school to other children, BBC Spotlight may be coming to film Leah at another school.
At the same time as Leah started to write, she became interested in acting. As a result of joining Southwest Artists of Bristol, she was selected for a main part in a Documentary film for J.P TV (the equivalent of the BBC in Japan) about the life of Agatha Christie. Leah played the young Agatha, filmed on location at Agatha Christie’s summer home at Green Ways, now a National Trust property. Leah continues to be interested in acting and was in last year’s panto, ‘Peter Pan’, at the Pavilion. She won an acting award from TYKES Festival in the summer of 2018 for acting and voice and will be starring in this February’s, TCS production of ‘Bugsy Malone’.
Leah is refreshingly modest about her talents but is a great example of a TCS student who throws herself into an array of disciplines with exceptional flair. She is a real credit to the school.
