TCS students have been documenting their experiences of life in lockdown since it began in March.
Daily journals have charted each week in lockdown, detailing the highs and lows of being confined at home in order to stop the spread of the virus in our community. Students have interviewed family and friends for their thoughts and feelings during these challenging times; what it’s like to go weeks without seeing friends, adjusting to online schooling, parents working from home and helping with homework. Many students have discovered new skills and interests. There are happy stories of families rekindling their relationships with one another. There are also experiences of loss, anxiety, boredom and frustration.
This week our Drama students have been tasked to use their experiences to create poems or letters that will be shaped into monologues to be filmed later. Year 9 student, Annabel Barrett, skilfully draws parallels from the men and women we remembered on VE Day and delivers her own poignant message to those of the future who will learn of the bravery shown by today’s heroes on the frontline – our health workers.
