Members of the 4th Teignmouth Explorer Scouts (aged 14 – 18 yrs) attend Teignmouth Community School to carry out their community service litter pick. They managed to collect 12 bin bags of litter, this then passed to Biffa for recycling.
A talk was given to the explorers about how the litter ends up down the drains, this arrives at a holding tank at the train station. Unfortunately this is then flushed directly in to the sea!
Students dropping litter at TCS have a direct, if only subtle, contribution to the millions of tons of plastic in the oceans.
