TCS again took part in and completed the legendary Ten Tors event this year. Weather conditions seemed more pleasant than they really were – ice formed on the tents on the Saturday night and the sun became a debilitating factor as the second day went on. The success of both TCS teams was largely down to strong progress on the first day, their team spirit, resilience and good training.
In the 35 mile team were: OSCAR KENNEDY, LILY WATKINS, SEB CURLE, HARRY ADDICOTT, MARION BROWNING, ISAK STARKEY – all year 10 students. Despite doing some extra miles, they breezed round and finished well before the deadline of 5pm. The 45 mile team consisted of: MAX MCNALLY (Y11), MORLEY ATKINS (Y11), JOE EVANS (Y11), TOM FRODSHAM (Y11), BEN FEKETE (Y12) and ex -student TOBY CURLE (one of last year’s Year 11 students). They completed the course just after 11.30 on the Sunday – an exceptionally fast time and one of the fastest for a TCS team in recent memory!
These 12 students completed an exceptional challenge that they will be proud of for the rest of their lives, and the experience will provide a lasting, positive memory. They have measured themselves against an uncompromising standard, risked failure and triumphed against physical and mental hardship. Well done to them all, and thanks also to the many staff who give up masses of time over weekends to train and support them – Ian Grainger-Allen, Richard Johns, Steph Waters, Judi Hellier and Adam Horne in particular
