Our current Year 7’s have been waiting patiently since October for their 2021 Bookbuzz books to arrive as an early Christmas present – and they are now here! The books are currently being sorted and packed for each tutor group and will be handed out by tutors during registration on the morning of Monday 13th December – just in time for our Drop Everything and Read Day Christmas activity 8.50 – 9.20 a.m. which is all about encouraging reading for pleasure across the whole school.
A big thank you to the reading charity Book Trust for putting the annual Bookbuzz programme together and to the publishers who support the initiative. TCS Library staff and teachers are always interested to see the most popular choices amongst the year group – as the book list changes each year with a wide range of genres. The 2021 top pick for TCS students was “The Haunting of Aveline Jones” the first in a spooky spine- tingling ghost tale series, the second and third top picks were equally popular with the hilarious graphic novel “Investigators” (full of fast paced slapstick humour, bright illustrations and a duo of detective alligators), and the uproarious graphic novel written by the comedian James Campbell, “The Funny Life of Teachers” which has the caution “Your teachers will not enjoy reading this” so teachers beware!
We hope that all students will really enjoy getting to read and keep the book that they have chosen. There are two copies of each title on the Bookbuzz list in library stock so there is plenty of room for choosing something else to borrow when the gifted one is completed… Happy Reading! ?
