Just before lockdown (which feels quite some time ago now), a group of Year 7 students were given a book cover challenge inspired by World Book Day on March 5th.
The book covers had been locked in a classroom until now….
We are extremely impressed with the hard work, creativity and imagination displayed in all of their efforts. Students were challenged to imagine that they had been commissioned to write a book and to create the book cover. They took inspiration from their favourite books and were introduced to all the features that make a book cover enticing such as the intricacies of font, colour, illustrations, visual structure and how to write an exciting blurb.
Their books ranged between fiction and non-fiction and a few of our favourites were: Adam the First (one in a series of books available), The Bad Cat, Midnight, The Pirate Ball and The Devil’s Sword. However, great credit must go to everyone as these are some of the best book covers we have ever seen; we wouldn’t be surprised to see some of these titles on library shelves in the future! In the meantime, they will make a brilliant display in the Centre for Achievement & Learning.
Well done everyone. You should all be very proud.
