Last weekend saw a group of 19 students participate in their Bronze DofE Expedition.
Having been waved goodbye in Torquay on Saturday morning, the 3 teams had to navigate their way to Maidencombe – no mean feat given the horrendous hills they had to climb, the sweltering heat and that they had to carry everything they needed to be self-sufficient for 2 days.
Having made it to the end of the first day, students then made camp and had to cook for themselves in the evening. A range of culinary skills were on display. Some students created gourmet dishes that Gordon Ramsey would be proud of whilst others had questionable quantities of burnt pasta…
The students broke camp early the next day and, with aching shoulders and legs, continued on their journey to Dawlish where Mr Whippy ice cream and the knowledge that they would complete the Expedition awaited them.
All students were fantastic and were a credit to the school. Some will now have completed their award which is an amazing achievement.
Keep an eye out for information on how to sign up for next year’s DofE…
